Closest Closet Free Market (Scarborough, ME)

image

Free Market! Here’s how it works! We meet on the second Saturday of every month from 10am to noon.

Bring at least 5 items in reasonable shape and suitable for re-use, then shop among what other participants bring. It’s really simple, just bring what you don’t want, and shop for what you do. We are just people getting together to recycle unwanted items, save money, work together, and have fun. The event is open to anyone, anywhere, with anything suitable for re-use.

For the first hour, everyone must bring a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 10 items to recycle in order to attend.  We do this so that the leftover items aren’t to burdensome for the organizers to take to donation.  From 11-12, anyone can come shop among the remaining items for free.  The leftover items are sent to donation, with a few storage bins worth of items retained to start the next months event with.

We also have a separate area for direct trading. Do you have crafts that you hand make? Do you have an abundance from the garden? Would you like to directly trade items or work with another community member? In addition to the 5-10 items, we will now be offering a direct trade area. Just bring what you want to direct trade, and mingle with the other traders and barterers. No selling of items is allowed.

We are also now offering free workshops and even free samples!

FMI- please use our group facebook page to stay updated about monthly events, needs, workshops, trading items, requested recyclables, and how you can help to make this community event happen.
